Capturing the moments of everyday life is a true treasure...and every picture tells a wonderful story!

My love for photography began at a young age and has been a constant source of enjoyment in my life. My earliest memory of photography goes back to my Grandmother Frances, she loved to have her picture taken and I was captivated as I looked at them over and over in amazement. I often dreamed of being a photographer for National Geographic and traveling the world.

My first photography class was in the 9th grade. This class was an introduction to black and white photos and I began to learn how to see the world through the camera. My most memorable parts of this class was learning about the history of photography and developing my own captures in the darkroom. So the fascination has become endless.
I strive to remain unobtrusive to capture moments as they happen. More often than not, great photographs are the product of a good relationship between the photographer and their subject.

The natural light of an outdoor setting is my favorite and living on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we have many places that provide a natural backdrop. Most of my cherished photographs are captured in my backyard.

I have two loves on these barrier islands I call home and they are the Elizabethan Gardens and the Lost Colony outdoor theatre performance. No matter how many times I see the play, there is always something new to capture. The gardens are an ever-changing tapestry and it enriches my soul to be within its canopy. No matter how many times I walk the hallowed grounds of this end of the island, I will see what I did not see the day before.

My favorite quotes are from the Henry D. Thoreau collection; “The question is not what you look at, but what you see” and “Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?”

To quote one of my fans, Mary Blanche “Dee wakes us up each morning with a breathe of fresh air in her photos…we love to see them everyday!”

These have been my inspiration for sharing what I see everyday!
