After Hurricane Irene passed the Outer Banks the barrier islands were saturated and moisture created some awesome captures.

Most of these pictures were taken at Fort Raleigh Historical National Park on Roanoke Island in Manteo, North Carolina.

I braved the wonderful summer like air of several September afternoons and SWARMS of our state bird...the ever-illusive MOSQUITO! I was so sure that I was going to come down with some disease but thank goodness for the little green can in my camera bag:)

Fungi was everywhere, never the same shape, size or color. What purpose did they have...squirrels surely did love them, even the stinky ones? All I know is what I saw was the beauty of their existence.
